The Pressure Relief Overlay Mattress is laid on top of a standard mattress, under the bed sheets.
It is good for helping to prevent decubitus ulcers, but is also used by many able bodied people with bad backs, aches and pains, etc.
To Fit
Place the overlay mattress on top of the existing mattress with the convolutions facing upwards. This is the part the Patient will lie on.
If necessary, use a waterproof sheet on top and then a normal sheet over it.
Also available: Vented Overlay Pad
Item # 180
Size: 183cm x 80cm x 7cm / 72″ x 31.5″ x 2.75″
The mattress can be washed by hand, squeezed and allowed to air dry.
This product is to help with the prevention of pressure sores. Sometimes, due to the patient deteriorating, the product may become unsuitable. Continuous monitoring is necessary and alternative products may be recommended.
Why is the Pressure Relief Overlay Mattress narrower than a single bed mattress?
The mattress is slightly narrower than a single bed width to allow fitted waterproof protectors or sheets to be used, as they may not fit the extra depth when using the overlay. It has also been observed that some patients may think the edge of the Pressure Relief Overlay Mattress is the edge of the mattress, and they will not move off the Pressure Relief Overlay Mattress and go too close to the side of the bed.
