The Arm Rest – 30 Degrees is designed to help hold a left or right arm in a raised position. This position may help reduce swelling, water retention, or oedema, and may improve blood circulation. There is convoluted foam where the arm is lying, which is soft and better for blood flow.
This product may be used after shoulder, arm, or hand surgery, such as a carpal tunnel operation. It may also be suitable for elevating the leg of above-knee amputee Patients.
Cover Options:
Velour Cover – The removable grey velour can be hand or machine washed. It comes with a Non-Slip Pad that attaches to either side of the Arm Rest and is placed under the Patient’s body to keep the Rest in place and help prevent it falling off the side of the bed.
Heat Sealed – This option may be preferable for hospitals or nursing homes due to the fact it has no sewn seams. The soft blue waterproof material can be wiped clean with disinfectant for infection control.
A wipeable vinyl arm strap is provided so the arm can be held in position if necessary. The camloc buckle on the strap can be positioned on either side of the Arm Rest. The strap has a tether to help stop it from getting lost. The tether can be removed if necessary.
To Use: The Arm Rest can be used in bed, on a table or desk, or possibly a couch. It is suitable for children and adults and has a non-slip base to help keep it in place. Some Patients may sleep on their back, or depending on the operation, they might be able to turn partially onto their side, keeping their arm in the Rest.
The weight of the bed sheet and blankets, etc. are taken by the top and sides of the Elevator, so they do not put a lot of pressure on the hand.
If the Patient has a plaster cast on their arm this may damage the fabric, so place some wadding under the arm to protect the material.
