WHAT IS THIS PRODUCT?

The Body Positioning Wedges are used to help position patients in bed and assist in maintaining symmetry while lying or sleeping. The firm foam wedges have two curved sides, with a layer of soft ventilated foam on the outer surface and a layer of thermoregulating material to help maintain body temperature. The cover is a waterproof, breathable material. Please see the sizing table under the Technical tab.

On the base of the wedges, hook tape is attached, allowing them to connect to Pelican’s Sleep System Positioning Sheet. For extra padding or increased thermoregulation, the wedges can be used with a Vented Overlay Pad. This pad is placed under the patient and may make it easier to turn them when positioning the wedges.

WHO IS THIS PRODUCT SUITABLE FOR?

The Body Positioning Wedges are suitable for people who require positioning support in bed or while sleeping.

BRIEF INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Patient lying on their back: Using the two wedges, slightly tilt the patient and place the smaller curved edge next to the patient’s chest under the arm. Then slightly tilt the patient’s hip and place the other wedge next to the hip. Repeat on the opposite side by tilting the patient again and positioning wedges next to the chest (under the shoulder) and hip so the wedges are firmly positioned.
Patient sleeping on their side at 30 degrees: Turn the wedges around and use the longer curved side. Slightly tilt the patient and place one wedge behind their back, allowing them to lean against it. Some patients may benefit from a second wedge placed at the hip, and a third wedge in front of the stomach to help prevent rolling forward.

CLEANING METHOD

Wipe clean or machine or hand wash.

MAXIMUM WASHING TEMPERATURE

80°C / 176°F.

DETERGENT

Use a mild hospital disinfectant and wipe cleaner, or use a detergent for washing. Do not use fabric softener.

DRYING METHOD

Air dry in the shade. Alternatively, tumble dry on a cool temperature and make sure the drum is cool.
