The Bed Step is designed to help patients get into and out of bed. This is helpful when the bed will not go down low enough. This may be due to the design of the bed, particularly if an overlay pressure mattress is fitted to the bed, making it higher. By using the Bed Step it makes theperson able to get in and out of bed more easily. This is because it allows their bottom to go nearer to the middle of the bed.
Two heights of Steps are available:
- Bed Step – One Step (10cm / 4″) (this product)
- Bed Step – Two Steps (20cm / 8″)
- Rehab Step – A large block for walking rehab
Both Bed Steps have wipeable medical grade, heat sealed vinyl covers. They have Non-Slip Material on the bottom to help prevent them from moving.
Place it alongside the bed so that when the patient is standing facing the head of the bed, they can step onto it. The person may even have a hand on the mattress to steady themselves. Ensure their heel is in front of the marked line. The Step are large enough to have two feet on them.
The Bed Step can also be used for getting on or off ambulance trolleys.
The decision to use the 10cm / 4″ or the 20cm / 8″ Bed Step will depend on the height of the bed, so long as the patient’s bottom will be safely near the middle of the bed.
