Bed Armchair

WHAT IS THIS PRODUCT?

The Bed Armchair is a modular foam support system designed to assist a person in maintaining an upright seated position in bed and to help reduce lateral (sideways) slipping. It provides a more stable alternative to using multiple pillows, which can shift and lose support.

The product is made in four individual sections and can be easily assembled or disassembled from behind a patient while they are seated in bed. The arm supports are adjustable and can be positioned forward to allow the user to rest their hands comfortably.

The pelvic/lumbar support section is positioned beneath the user to provide additional support to the lower back when seated in a reclined position.

Three different grades of foam have been used to create the Bed Armchair:

1. The back rest uses a medium-density foam bonded with a slow-recovery foam layer, providing firm but comfortable posterior support and assisting in reducing lateral slip.
2. The pelvic/lumbar support also uses medium-density foam with a slow-recovery layer to enhance comfort and help maintain spinal alignment in a seated position.
3. The arm supports are constructed from firm-density foam to provide stable upper limb support and allow the user to lean or reposition without collapse.
