The Bed Heel Elevator is made from a wedge-shaped foam contoured to hold a leg, and to keep the heel off the bed.
The convoluted section will help with blood flow and pressure care under the calf. The patient’s heel should rest over the end so it is suspended in the air above the mattress. As this product is used with patients who will not move their legs off the elevator, we suggest that the Carer periodically moves the elevator up and down the leg to enable blood flow and alter the pressure on the back of the leg.
Patients can be on their sides when using this product. Two elevators can be used for both heels if necessary and comfortable.
The Bed Heel Elevator Footdrop Support (sold separately) attaches to the Bed Heel Elevator to help prevent footdrop. It attaches with Hook & Loop Tape on the side of the water-resistant wipeable version of the Bed Heel Elevator.
Available with two cover options
- A water-resistant wipeable cover. A cotton sheet can be draped over the elevator to help prevent sweating for some patients. This has black Hook & Loop tape on the sides to allow the Bed Heel Elevator Footdrop Support to be attached, to help prevent footdrop
- A 100% heat sealed cover made from a medical grade vinyl material. This does not have the black Hook & Loop tape on the sides because this would require stitching, and therefore the product would not be 100% heat sealed. This is the reason why the Bed Heel Elevator Footdrop Support cannot attach to it.
