WHAT IS THIS PRODUCT?
The Bed Fall Mat – Sewn is a covered foam cushion, or ‘crash mat’. It is placed next to the bed, to help prevent injuries if someone falls from the bed. It is designed to be used with most beds, but preferably with beds that go low to the ground. It is not designed to be fallen on from a great height, or from a bed that has bed rails up.
There is high visibility webbing sewn along one edge. It comes supplied with a warning sign which you can place on a door handle so that Carers are aware of the potential tripping hazard.
WHO IS THIS PRODUCT SUITABLE FOR?
This product may help prevent injury from a fall from a bed.
BRIEF INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Lower the bed as far as possible, and place the product on the floor. Ensure there is no gap between the bed and Bed Fall Mat. When not in use, the Mat can be folded and stored behind the head of the bed.

Cleaning
CLEANING METHOD
The material is wipeable with a standard hospital grade disinfectant. Remove the cover and machine or hand wash it. Hand wash the foam and rinse in water, then gently squeeze out and dry in the shade.
MAXIMUM WASHING TEMPERATURE
80°C / 176°F.
DETERGENT
Use a mild detergent. Do not use fabric softener.
DRYING METHOD
Air dry in the shade. Alternatively, tumble dry on a cool temperature and make sure the drum is cool.
CLEANING WARNING
Only use and store the product when it is dry.
If infection control is paramount, we recommend the Bed Fall Mat – Heat Sealed.
Important
Ensure this product will not be a tripping hazard for the Patient or Carers. Place the warning card in a prominent place, such as on a door handle.
Because people can fall out of a bed in many different ways, we cannot guarantee that this product will prevent or reduce injuries.
