The Wool Wheelchair Pad can be used on wheelchairs and other chairs to help with pressure care and comfort without adding a lot of extra height. It will fit chairs between 40cm to 50cm wide and can be used as a Seat Pad or as a Back Rest. Two separate Pads can be used together, with one on the seat and the other on the back of a chair if desired. The Pad is made from pure sheep’s wool attached to a breathable synthetic backing which, unlike sheepskin, can be washed with minimal shrinking. This wool has been specially treated for use in medical products, and will help with perspiration.
There is a layer of foam inside the Wool Wheelchair Pad to provide additional cushioning. The Pad has an opening to remove the foam for cleaning. The Pad can also be used without the foam inside it, depending on the person’s individual pressure care requirements.
When a Patient leans too far back in a chair, it can increase the pressure on the coccyx area and may also affect their breathing. This can be a particular issue for people with short legs. Using the Wool Wheelchair Pad with the foam inside as a Back Rest can help people sit upright, improving pressure care, posture and breathing.
