WHAT IS THIS PRODUCT?
Hip Protectors are worn by people to help prevent hip injuries and fractures if they fall. The Pelican Hip Protector Pants come in either a female or male style, and a variety of sizes. Pants are made from a stretchy, moisture-wicking Micromesh material. As well as a shape difference, the male style has a fly in them. We use soft foam pads to offer excellent impact absorption. The pads fit into pockets in the sides of the Pants.
Features of the Pelican Hip Protector Pads:
- Soft, flexible, impact-resistant foam, which becomes more supple when it warms up after being next to the skin
- 0.5cm / 0.2” soft breathable foam holds the sealed internal impact-absorbing green foam away from the skin to allow for good air circulation
- Good-sized pads to offer good coverage of the greater trochanter (hip bone)
The Hip Protector Pad options are:
- SuperSoft Washable Pads (179SSW): Our most popular pad, which is fully washable
- SuperSoft Washable Pads T5 (179SSWT5): A heavy-duty option that is thicker than the SuperSoft Washable pads

Cleaning
CLEANING METHOD
Wipe clean or machine or hand wash.
MAXIMUM WASHING TEMPERATURE
80°C / 176°F.
DETERGENT
Use a mild hospital disinfectant and wipe cleaner, or use a detergent for washing. Do not use fabric softener.
DRYING METHOD
Air dry in the shade.
CLEANING WARNING
Only use and store the product when it is dry. Note SuperSoft Pads can only be wiped clean – they cannot be laundered.

What type of Pads are best?
By far our most popular Pads are the white SuperSoft Washable Pads (Item # 179SSW). They can be washed, and are generally well-accepted by a person wearing them because they are not too thick. The white SuperSoft Washable T5 pads are slightly thicker, offering better impact absorption. They can also be washed The green SuperSoft Pads are good for situations where the pads do not need to be washed. All of the Pelican Pads warm up once they have been next to the skin, so they are all comfortable. All Pelican Pads were found to reduce a controlled force to under the breakage threshold under university testing.
