Some people are not able to control their feet and they may slip forwards or backwards off wheelchair footplates. The Footplate Foot Holder Straps can help prevent the feet slipping.
They attach to the footplate and the fasten. Fasten over the top of the shoe and around the back of the heel. Once done up, the foot should remain in place.
If the Patient is not wearing shoes, we suggest they wear socks to prevent the strap cutting into the foot.
Remember that the Patient must understand that when their feet are in the Straps, they are not able to stand up and walk away, unless they or someone else can undo the Strap.
To Fit
Place the Straps on the footplate with the 5cm / 2″ wide Strap wrapped around the footplate. Firmly secured under it. Note: The 1.6cm / 0.6″ wide Heel Strap should be at the back.
When the Patient is sitting with their foot on the footplate, the 1.6cm / 0.6″ Heel Strap is placed behind their shoe. Attach the 3.8cm / 1.5″ Foot Strap over top of the shoe.
