New Item – Speculum Examination WedgeAUD$94 (Item # 374)
 
When doing a Speculum Examination, it may be easier to perform a pap smear or a pelvic examination if the pelvis is raised off the couch or bed. New Item – Birthing Floor MattressAUD$330 (Item # 373)
  This small mini-mattress is used on the floor, mainly in bathrooms prior to giving birth. The inside is made from two layers of foam, with a firm lower section of foam and softer memory foam on top, to give a comfortable surface for the woman to be on. The two colours of vinyl have the softer beige colour on top with firmer maroon vinyl underneath. Two carry handles are provided to make it easy to carry around. To Use: Place the Mattress on the floor with the darker Maroon vinyl on the floor, so the softer beige vinyl will be on top. With guidance from a health professional, the woman in labour can then sit, kneel, or lie on the beige vinyl cover. The Mattress is big enough for a midwife to also kneel on it. Cleaning: The cover is completely Heat Sealed, so the mattress can be washed with a hose or shower and then wiped clean with disinfectant and dried with a clean towel before storing. Click here to link to this item on our website. New Item – Pregnancy Pelvic Tilt WedgeSmall $60 (Item # 162S)    Made from firm foam, with a Heat Sealed cover, to help with Infection Control. Just Spray & Wipe Clean. When women in late pregnancy lie supine, the uterus compresses the inferior vena cava and aorta. This reduces maternal cardiac output causing supine hypotension and affects placental blood flow. To alleviate this aortocaval compression, gravity can be used to displace the uterus. An effective way of assisting uterine displacement is through the use of a wedge under the woman’s right hip. Place wedge under the patient’s right hip to tilt the uterus to the left while maintaining patient's comfort. An additional wedge or pillow support may be placed under the patient's uterus on the opposite side for further comfort and support.
