Here's the good news: this month we are having another competition open only to the Pelican-Announce email recipients withinin Australia. This time we are giving away only one bottle of Pelican Port. To enter, email and write "Pelican Port Competition - September" in the subject field. Remember to include your delivery address (preferably street address) in the email so we can send the Port out to you. We will be drawing the winner of the bottle of Pelican Port on Monday 15th October. We have also managed to get hold of fifty sets of sewing needles and coloured thread that we can send to you free-of charge, based on a first come, first served basis. Again, if you would like one sent to you, please email me with your details.
Posters…
We have completed the Restraints Poster I mentioned last month. Those who requested copies of it should have received them by now - they were sent out on Thursday 6th September. If you did not receive it, or would like more copies, please email me at
and I will send them out to you. You can also click on the link below to see this:

Horsing around…
We have just supplied another Bosun's Chair Sling to a Riding for the Disable group here in Perth. Although the usual benefits of using the Sling for dressing/undressing and toiletting will not be used, the Bosun's Chair Sling lifts the rider in a good upright sitting position when being lifted on and off the horse. This is the third Riding for the Disabled to use the Bosun's Sling and as they are close to our factory we went out to see the sling in action. Here are two photos of able-bodied instructors using the sling:

You can see that the rider is wearing a helmet, and Lightning the Horse is not wearing a saddle! People who are familiar with the Bosun's Sling may note that they have not threaded the legs together, so the rider's legs are open to be lowered onto the horse.
Just quickly…
With regard to our Bed Rail Protectors - Slip Over, and also the Zip-A-Beds, remember that you can have either the male or female pattern material. Many people prefer to order the male pattern because they can be used on lady's beds, whereas using a female floral pattern on a gentlemen's bed can look a bit out of place. Having said this, some men are very keen gardeners and like flowers, and for most of their married life may have had floral bedspreads. Please specify which type you would like when you place an order.
For a laugh…
Here a few entries found on patient's medical charts in hospitals:
- Patient has chest pain if she lies on her side for over a year.
- On the second day the knee was better and on the third day it disappeared.
- Occasional, constant infrequent headaches.
- She is numb from her toes down.
- The patient has been depressed since she began seeing me in 1993.
Well, that's about all for this month's edition of Pelican - Announce. Remember, if you know anyone who you think might like to be added to the Pelican - Announce list and receive this newsletter, ask them to contact us and I can add their name. Keep in mind that we can now email instruction sheets in pdf format, so let us know if you need any more information on any products.
