Pelican-Announce - November 2002John's Trip… John and Tom have recently returned from a whirlwind tour of the U.S.A. and Singapore. Whilst in the U.S. they visited New York, Atlanta and St Louis. In Atlanta they attended the MedTrade Expo where they saw displays of Nursing, Hospital and Rehabilitation Goods. Most of the displays were for air cell mattresses and wheelchairs, with cushions running third. John saw a new type of restraint in the U.S. that looks like a large Mosquito Net hung over a padded four poster bed. If you would like to look at it please contact us and we will email it to you. Product Updates… Hip Protectors… The hip protectors are still in the process of being tested to make sure they will work effectively so hopefully they will be available in the New Year. Bed Fall Mats… We are currently working on Bed Fall Mats to be placed on the floor next to the bed, with the bed on the lowest setting. The Bed Rail on one side of the bed would be lowered so the patient does not feel the need to climb over it and if the patient were to fall from the bed then they would have a soft landing. Xmas Hours… We will soon be releasing our hours for over the Christmas - New Year period however there will still be a skeleton staff to deal with any problems that may arise during this time. For a Laugh… A piece of string walks into a bar "Can I have a glass of beer please?" "Sorry we do not serve pieces of string here," the Barman replies. "Please give us a glass of beer," the string asks again. "Sorry we do not serve pieces of string here, I am going to have to ask you to leave." The string goes outside rather frustrated and ties himself into all types of knots. He ties himself in to on big knot with bits of string sticking out everywhere. He then walks back into the bar and asks for a beer. "Aren't you a piece of string?" asks the barman. "No I am a frayed knot." Pelican Port Competition… August's Pelican Port competition winner is Rachel Fairweather from the Manly Vale Nursing Home. Rachel your bottle will be sent out shortly.
