New Items…

Access Sling (Item 560)…

We have been developing the PELICAN Access Sling with a particular nursing home and they are finding it successful. The Access Sling is fully padded, giving extra comfort for patients when lifting. The sling is very simple to put on, and allows patients to be put into with good posture as the sling lifts patients up in a sitting upright position, similar to the Bosun’s Chair Sling. The RPH Keyhole Access Sling (Item 792) is also available and designed specifically for keyhole plate, tilt frame hoists. Once lifted they can be undressed, toileted and then washed and dressed again while in the sling. Check out the website for more information.

Hammock with Chair Pad (Item 570CP)…

The Hammock Sling with Chair Pad is designed for patients who have to sit on their sling in a chair during the day, rather than having the sling removed. The Chair Pad section will keep the sling flat and should keep creases out of the sling under the patient. The long stitching down the length of the Chair Pad section makes it easy to 'concertina' the sling, which will help the carers when log rolling the patient to get the sling under them and for removing it they are back in bed. Again, check out the website for more information.

Chair Pads (Item 135L)…

The Chair Pad is designed for use with fall out chairs, tub chairs, lounge chairs etc. Many of these types of chairs use a wipeable vinyl material, which is easy to clean, but the material cannot 'breathe', so people sitting in them often become hot and perspire. Many facilities simply drape cotton sheets over the chairs, but this can look very undignified. The Chair Pad is made from special breathable foam, with a layer of fabric that is used in sports clothing which draws moisture away from the skin. The pad should not crease under the patient unless they are hyperactive. Again, check out the website for more information.

Heel & Elbow Pads – Polyester (Item 140P)…

The Heel & Elbow Pads - Polyester help to prevent pressure sores van be cooler than the foam. This product is especially helpful for people with oedematous feet. The ‘Polyester Webbing’ (Hollow Core Silicone Fibre) used in these Heel Pads will provide a soft cushion for the heel. Again, check out the website for more information.

Product Updates…

Hip Protector Pads…

The Hip Protector Pads are selling well, with many repeat orders coming in. As opposed to other brands which use a hard outer shell, our Hip Protector Pads use two layers of foam, which are comfortable when sleeping. The Pads cost $28.00 a pair, and the pants are available in both male and female styles. The female pants cost $22.00 a pair and the male pants cost $26.00 a pair, but some males may prefer to wear the female style pants with the shorter legs.

We have found an American study that found the pads were effective, but the only trouble was getting the people to wear them! We hope we have overcome that problem.

Again, check out the website for more information.

Bed Fall Mats (Items 462 & 462S)…

The Bed Fall Mats are also selling well. Results from US studies have advocated their use and they are expected to become widely used in Australia. This study found the Mats greatly reduced bed fall injuries, and that staff and other residents did not accidentally trip over them. Again, check out the website for more information.

Now available for less than half price...

Due to the high cost of producing a completely waterproof heat sealed mat, we have also introduced a less expensive version which has a vinyl cover and single layer of foam inside, and is sewn, as opposed to being heat sealed. However, the cost works out at less than half the price of the heat sealed version. The heat sealed version is good for hospitals where the patients are not staying very long, as the mats are very easily cleaned to prevent cross infection. The sewn version is more suitable for nursing homes, as the same person will use them for a long time, reducing cross infection concerns. If you are interested in taking up this offer please email

New email for Accounts…

We now have an email address for accounts queries and remittance. If you need to contact us re accounts then email:

Product Evaluation…

Over the last few weeks we have received back a number of the Product Evaluation Forms we sent out. These are very helpful as it allows us to improve our items, but also lets us know what other items carers would like to see on the market. We thrive on your input so please keep telling us what you think! We have just sent out some more Evaluation Forms on the new products, so for those who receive them, please return them!

Special Price…

We recently made some special Commode Cushions and Back Cushions and can sell them at HALF PRICE. We made them up as specials for a customer and now have excess stock. They are covered in Mediflex, an anti-bacterial material, which is a stronger material than what we normally use for these items. To take advantage of the deal you will need to purchase at least 1 Commode Cushion (half price cost is $27) AND at least 1 Back Cushion (half price cost is $22). We only have about ten sets left, so this special is based on a first order, first delivered basis and will only be available until stock lasts.

For a laugh…

A couple had been married for 25 years when they celebrated their 60th birthdays. During the celebration a fairy appeared. She told them that because they had been such a loving couple all those years, she would give them one wish each. The wife wanted to travel around the world. The fairy waved her wand and Boom! She had the tickets in her hand. Next, it was the husband's turn. He paused for a moment, then said shyly, "Well, I'd like to have a wife 30 years younger than me." The fairy picked up her wand and BOOM!…. He was 90.
