Chair Belt for Sliders

Chair Belt for sliders
Item # 412 (front fastening)

This belt helps prevent patients from sliding down chairs to the floor. The patient can freely move their legs, twist around and even try to stand up, but the belt should prevent them from sliding or standing.

The belt is fitted around the chair and buckles together in front. On the Rear Fastening version (which is more popluar as it means patients cannot play with the buckles) the two padded leg straps are then positioned under the legs, passed through the waist loops, wrapped around the frame of the chair at the pelvic area and then buckled up behind the chair, adjusting to size.

The belt is long enough to use on lounge chairs. However, on narrower chairs it may be beneficial to wrap the surplus webbing around the frame to shorten the webbing. This helps secure the belt at the ‘pelvic position’ either side of the hips.

If ladies are wearing the belt, it is better for them to be wearing trousers rather than a dress. Patients should always be monitored when wearing any safety item and if the belt or leg straps appear to be putting pressure around the patient, or under the legs, the patient should be repositioned to relieve this pressure.

WARNING - Only use a Safety Belt or Restraint if all other alternatives have been tried. Ensure Restraint Authorisation has been obtained. Restrained patients should be kept under observation, as their behaviour may alter and another restraint may be more appropriate. Restraints are a prescribed item. The wrong restraint or the correct restraint incorrectly fitted can cause injury or death.

The belt & straps can be hand or machine washed. Do up buckles before machine washing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the 412 & the 412R?

The 412 has all buckles at the front within reach of the patient. The 412R has all buckles at the rear, out of reach of the patient. The 412R is by far the more popular.

Length?

2.6 meters – this is sufficient length to fit all types of chairs.
