Stand-Up Bed Alarm - Standard

Bed Alarm Video
Item # 444B (Sounding Alarm Box)

Stand-Up Alarms can be a very helpful way of monitoring a patient's movement, without physical or chemical restraining. They are normally used with people who stand up from a chair or get out of bed and could fall over. However, sometimes the patients may be able to walk, but due to dementia, they may put themselves or others in danger.

Depending on where the Pad is placed on the bed, the Alarm will sound if the patient sits up in bed or if they get out of bed.

There is a built-in delay of about 1/2 second. This is so that is someone is just changing position there should not be any false alarms.

The Alarm can be kept in the bedroom or placed in the corridor. If placed in the room, the noise may remind the patient not to stand. Alternatively, Item # 444BNC (or 444BNC2) can be plugged into compatible nurse call systems, which then set of nurse's pagers and do not make a sound in the room (click on the Falls Prevention category to find this item).

Consider your options.... people often automatically assume they need a Bed Alarm if someone is getting out of bed. However, you may get earlier warning by using a Floor Alarm (see separate item). This is because the Floor Alarm will sound when someone puts a foot on it. If someone is getting out of bed, they may set off the Floor Alarm when their feet touch the ground, but they may well still be sitting on the Bed Alarm, and not setting the Bed Alarm off.

Powered by batteries. Sometimes the Pad can be positioned under the mattress.

Spare internal contact sheets are available.

Washing: Wipe clean as normal.

Warranty - 3 months. As the Bed Alarms may be under a lot of stress and have a lot of movement on them when people get in and out of bed, or when turning in bed, the working life of the internal Contact Sheets may rapidly decline. All Contact Sheets can be easily replaced if necessary.

The alarm cord length is 5m. and the sounding alarm version of this alarm is powered by batteries.

This item may be of interest if you are wondering how to stop patients falling out of bed.
