Item # 612 (cotton) $31.00Item # 612N (netting) $39.00This Arm Holder is used temporarily to hold the patient’s arm or to control a patient who punches the Carer when fitting a lifting sling. The decorative pattern helps with patient dignity, and fitting and removing the sling is very easy. The patient’s arm is placed inside the sling with the end of the webbing strap pulled fully over the shoulder. The webbing strap is then passed across the patient’s back under the arm and fastened to the buckle near the wrist. If the patient is punching with their other arm, the Carer can normally control one arm without needing to use a second Arm Holder. The Arm Holder should be removed as soon as the lift has been completed. This product is an A.D.L. (Aid to Daily Living). It can also be interpreted as a restraint. It is recommended to approve and document the use of the Arm Holder in the patient’s care plan. Note that if the patient wriggles a lot, they could dislodge the end of the sling off their shoulder and then remove their arm from the sling. The Arm Wrap, Item 613, is sometimes used when lifting a patient from a bed.WARNING - Only use a Safety Belt or Restraint if all other alternatives have been tried. Ensure Restraint Authorisation has been obtained. Restrained patients should be kept under observation, as their behaviour may alter and another restraint may be more appropriate. Restraints are a prescribed item. The wrong restraint or the correct restraint incorrectly fitted can cause injury or death.Hand or machine wash only, up to 80°C. Do not tumble dry or wring - air dry only.
