Item # 402 (buckle fastening)Item # 403 (velcro fastening)To help prevent patients falling from chairs or to position their hips correctly on pressure cushions. For use on wheelchairs, dining chairs and some armchairs. This belt is fitted to the chair and normally remains in position on the chair when it is vacated. Special sizes can be made on request for use on larger chairs. The shorter part of the belt with the female buckle should be lassoed around through the strap loop around the chair frame near to the pelvic area. The longer part of the belt with the male buckle is lassoed around the other side of the chair on the opposite pelvic area. When the patient is sitting in position, the buckle should be on the side of the patient. The belt can be adjusted to size by moving the longer webbing through the male buckle. Squeeze the side release buckle to undo the belt. The Velcro version simply does up by fastening the Velcro together.WARNING - If the patient plays with or twists the buckle, this can increase the size across the waist. If the belt is too loose, it may be possible for the patient to slide off the chair. As the buckle would still be done up this could be dangerous. Should the patient slide completely off the chair they could strangle themselves. Do not use this belt with any patient who cannot understand the correct use of the belt.WARNING - Only use a Safety Belt or Restraint if all other alternatives have been tried. Ensure Restraint Authorisation has been obtained. Restrained patients should be kept under observation, as their behaviour may alter and another restraint may be more appropriate. Restraints are a prescribed item. The wrong restraint or the correct restraint incorrectly fitted can cause injury or death.Washing: Hand or machine wash only, up to 80°C. Do not tumble dry or wring - air dry only.
